The first lady of Ghana, Mrs Akufo Addo yesterday commissioned “Mothers Hostel” donated by Mr. Gustav Anokye Yeboah to the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital in Ghana.
Mrs Akufo Addo while commissioning the project, praised Mr Yeboah for the Kind gesture, saying:
“Every year, many women die in Ghana due to pregnancy and child-related complications. Most of these deaths can be avoided through effective, appropriate maternity care, preventive diagnostic and timely therapeutic interventions. This remains a top priority for me and my foundation.”
“Today, I wish to celebrate a distinguished man and philanthropist, Mr Gustav Anokye-Yeboah for building a mothers’ hostel at the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital: a gesture which shows the compassion of this son of the land, a man conscious of the worth of mothers.
I wish to also commend the hospital’s management for building an Obstetrics and Gynaecology Emergency Centre with Internally Generated Funds.This shows great resourcefulness and a can-do spirit.
I hope these two projects that I had the honour of commissioning will receive the best of maintenance; in order to continue to achieve the purpose for which they were constructed. The Rebecca Foundation made a presentation to the mother and baby unit as well.
Together we can really do more.
