Khabib Nurmagomedov has finally been given his Championship belt, as he issued a warning to the UFC President Dana White that he was lucky he decided to give him the belt he won from Conor McGregor.
The undefeated Champion Khabib had defeated Conor McGregor in round four, after the Irishman tapped out from his pin-down, in a fight that was marred with violence inside and outside of the ring.
Khabib who had earlier said his decision to jump off the octagon and attack Conor’s team was because of what was said before the fight about his religion, country, and father, and have since apologized for his violent conduct in Las Vegas at Weekend.
Taking to his social media page hours after receiving his belt, he said the UFC President was a lucky man that he decided to issue him with his belt, as he would have smashed his car as he knows his car parking location. He said:
“@danawhite you lucky that you give my belt, or I would smash your car, I know your parking location ?”
The UFC President Dana White after the brawl said McGregor had refused to press charges, but will not be giving Khabib his belt. He told the 30-year-old winner he could not receive his belt in the octagon as he feared it may incite trouble among those present at Las Vegas’ T-Mobile Arena.
He later said the Nevada State Commission, which sanctioned the bout, has withheld Nurmagomedov’s fight payment pending an investigation.
“I know if we put the belt on him [Nurmagomedov] in the octagon there’ll be things thrown,” said White. “I just said let’s just try and get him out of here.
“Police officers were getting punched, security guys were getting punched. I actually think police and security did an incredible job. Khabib jumped over the cage like one of those Parkour guys. What are you expected to do? ” He asked.
A rematch is expected from the two fighters, as the brawl on Saturday, has further pushed up the ratings and cheques, and Dana White is loving all the attention and will be preparing big for the rematch.
