Ronaldo has released an official statement firmly denying rape allegation leveled against him by a woman who accused the former Real Madrid Star and now Juventus forward of allegedly raping her back in 2009 in Las Vegas.
The Portuguese forward who had earlier denied the allegation after a lawsuit was filed by the accuser, has a few hours ago, released an official statement not just to deny the allegation but to condemn rape itself!
Ronaldo in his message, calls rape an abominable crime that goes against everything he believes in, and he is ready to clear his name. He said:
“I firmly deny the accusations being issued against me. Rape is an abominable crime that goes against everything that I am and believe in. Keen as I may be to clear my name, I refuse to feed the media spectacle created by people seeking to promote themselves at my expense.
My clear conscious will thereby allow me to await with tranquillity the results of any and all investigations.”
Cristiano Ronaldo is being accused of rape by one Kathryn Mayorga who told the press that the Portuguese winger and multiple Ballon d’Or winner raped her while she screamed no repeatedly. It was also reported that Ronaldo after the incident, apologized saying: he was sorry as he was usually a gentleman.
According to the lawsuit, Ronaldo explained to his people that Kathryn said no and stop several times but he ignored her.
The lawsuit reads that Ronaldo took advantage of her emotional state at that time, coerced her into signing a settlement and nondisclosure agreement in 2009, while they gave her the sum of $375,000 in exchange for her silence. But her lawsuit is now seeking to void the settlement, as she is ready to press charges.
The case has since been reopened by the Police in Las Vegas where the incident allegedly took place.
Clearly, Ronaldo since leaving Real Madrid has been having a tough time both on and off the pitch. He was sent off from his debut game for Juventus in the UEFA Champions League against Valencia and missed out in the UEFA and FIFA awards, and now a rape case hanging over his head…he is even calling it as someone trying to use his name to shine..lol
