Gallant troops of the Nigerian Army under code name Operation Zenda in the North Central zone of the country, recorded another victory, as they neutralised suspected armed robbers along a busy highway in Benue state
The suspected armed robbers were said to have met their Waterloo when they engaged the gallant troops of Operation Zenda in a shoot-out along the Otukpo-Apa-Otukpo highway of Benue state. The troops neuralized the armed robbers while others ran off with gunshot wounds.
In a statement released by the Nigerian Army on the incident, the Army explained that the Gallant Troops of Operation ZENDA in their bid to restore peace to Benue state and the entire North Central and country at large, while on routine patrol in the early hours of Sunday morning, encountered the robbers and immediately Neutralize them while others escaped with gunshot wounds.
According to the statement, this happened at about 3.30 am this Sunday morning 30 September 2018, as troops of Operation ZENDA on mobile patrol engaged a group of armed robbers in a shoot out along OTUKPO – APA- OTUKPA highway.
During a search of the area at dawn one of the Robbers kitted in military camouflage was found dead, a locally made revolver and 2 cartridges were also recovered.
Troops are still searching the bushes along the area for others who may have escaped with gunshot wounds.
The Nigerian Army in the statement, also said that the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lt Gen TY Buratai has since commended the troops and urged them not to relent in their efforts towards making Benue State free from all forms of criminality.

This news is one out of many of the successes being recorded by the Nigerian Army in different parts of the country, especially the areas where armed robbers and banditry have been terrorizint innocent Nigerians. From the North Central, to the North East, the Nigerian Troops under different code names have been doing their best to restore peace and their efforts and sacrifices so far have been hugely commendable.
