Amaju Pinnick without the backing of the Minister of Sports is winning a re-election for another four years, after his first election in September of 2014. He is also a First Vice President of Confederation of African Football (CAF).

Before his re-election, Amaju Pinnick’s first term election as NFF President was being challenged in court by the Giwa-led Executive for years, to the extent that FIFA had to threaten a possible sanction and suspension of Nigeria from football-related activities before the issue was suspended. It took the intervention of the President Muhammadu Buhari led administration recognizing the Amaju Pinnick led executive and also promising to work with NFF and FIFA to always find an amicable solutions to disagreements to avoid future embarrassment.

The statement by the Federal Government from the office of the Vice President, was enough for FIFA to suspend their initial threat.

This new election results now further settles all the initial court cases, and the illegal Giwa-led executive comes to an end…
