Damasak: The Chief of Army Staff ‘s visit to the North East no doubt has continued to yield positive result as troop continue onslaught against the Boko Haram Terrorists, which on Wednesday-Thursday saw over 50 Boko Haram terrorists losing their lives.

According to report made  available by the Nigerian Army, Yesterday, the Al-Barnawi faction of the Boko Haram Terrorits suffered heavily from their misadventure into Damasak in Borno state.

The ISWAP members met their Waterloo when the Nigerian gallant troops lead by the Gen Buratai engaged the hoodlums, overran their perimeters neutralizing over 50 Boko Haram terrorists  after a heavy shootout that lasted about 5 hours.

Items recovered include:
a. Two vehicles.
b. One Anti Aircraft Gun.
C. Four AK 47 rifles.
d. Seven (7) magazines.
e. Two Hand Grenades.
f. One bayonet.
g. 47 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition.
h

H. 174 rounds of 7.62mm NATO ammunition.

The statement also said that some of terrorists ran for their lives with severe gunshot wounds abandoning gun trucks and other ammunition.

To assure the inhabitants of Damasak of their safety and security the indefatigable COAS today directed the Commanding Officer 145 Bn Lt Col James Nkereuwem to carry out confidence-building patrol inside Damasak Township to reassure the inhabitants of their safety.

The patrol made a stop at the palace of the village head and also went to the market square where he advised them to report any suspicious persons or movement.

Also, the Nigerian Army had earlier debunked the claim by some social media handle which had earlier given a false information about the terriorists overrunning Damasak in Borno state.
The Nigeria Army spokesperson Brigadier-Genera Texas Chukwu warned media houses to verifying information before reporting same to the general public, while also promising constant update as to the events going on Damasak and the war on Boko Haram in the north East.
