Manchester City winger, Raheem Sterling has spoken up about the issue of racism in United Kingdom, and how the media help fuel racism with their negative reporting which are mostly targeted at young black players.

It is a public knowledge that Raheem Sterling is the most racially abused black player in England, and yesterday’s incident at the Chelsea game was just one out of many he has faced since his playing career.

Sterling taking to his social media page a few hours ago, and inorder to prove his point, put up two newspaper reports of two Manchester City players who bought houses for their mothers and how it was reported differently.

Putting up the front pages of the newspaper reports he said:

“All I have to say is have a second thought about fair publicity and give all players an equal chance,”

In a post on Instagram , Sterling said he “had to laugh” when he heard the alleged racist remarks during the game because he expects “no better”.

Sterling on his Instagram page compared how Adarabioyo and Phil Foden buying houses for their mother was reported.

The headline referring to 21-year-old defender Adarabioyo – who is on loan at West Brom – focuses on how he spent £2.25m on a property “despite having never started a Premier League match”.

By contrast, midfielder Foden, 18, “buys a £2m home for his mum” and is later described as having “set up a future”.

Sterling said:

Good morning, i just want to say I am not normally the person to talk alot, but when I think I need my point to be heard, I speak up.

Regarding what was said at the Chelsea game, as you can see by my reaction I just had to laugh because I dont expect no better. for example you have two future young players starting out their careers – both play for the same team, both have done the right thing, which is buy a new house for their mothers who have put in a lot of time and love into helping them get where they are,” Sterling said.

“But look at how the newspapers get their message across for the young black player and then for the young white player.

“I think this is unacceptable, both innocent, have not done a thing wrong but just by the way it has been worded, this young black kid is looked at in a bad light, which helps fuel racism and aggressive behaviour.”
