Governor El Rufai of Kaduna State has been presented with the All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship nomination form by the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), NAT0 and Sheikh Gumi market Association and others in Kaduna on Monday so as for him to recontest for a second term as Governor of the State.
The Group made their presentation to the Governor at the office of the Governor in Kaduna State, after they were received by the Governor himslef.
Governor El Rufai who became the Governor of the state in 2015 under the APC, after dumping the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), accepted the form, and will be looking to recontest the position again come 2019.
Also the Kaduna governor who a few weeks back vowed to punish Senators from his state with votes for stopping his bill for a loan at the national Assembly, and although the National leadership of the APC has weighed in on the conflict, by bringing all aggrieved members on the same page, the war seem not to be over yet, as both Governor and the Senators from his state have continued their blame game and war of words as the race to the 2019 general elections hots up.
Governor El Rufai after receiving the form, took to his social media page to say:
Representatives of IPMAN, NATO, Sheikh Gumi Market Association and other Associations have come to present Governor El-Rufai with the APC expression of interest and nomination forms bought by them for his re-election bid.
The issue of groups buying nomination form or forms of interest for Governors and members of the National Assembly and politicians generally, will not start with Governor El Rufai and will not end with him.
The trend started after a group of APC members decided to give President Muhammadu Buhari a nomination form for him to contest for the 2019 Presidential elections, so as to continue as the President of Nigeria for a second term, and since that announcement, we have seen groups from virtually all APC controlled States in the North allegedly buying interest form for their Governors and National Assembly members to recontest elections in thier various states.
The trend has continued and no Governor or Politician have turned down the offers, as opposition party members kicked against the move.
