According to the Director-General, Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, Chikwe Ihekweazu, who spoke on the challenges being faced by health workers, on Monday, said just only last week, 75 health workers were infected with #COVID19. But added that:

“We can reduce this risk. As we work hard to roll out the new antigen-based rapid test kits as an additional tool to protect health workers, we urge them to have a high index of suspicion”

“The B.1.1.7 variant, first identified in U.K has now been identified in 6 more #COVID19 cases in Nigeria. While we strengthen our genomic surveillance capacity with partners to inform our response, non-pharmaceutical interventions remain effective to limit spread”

The centre also encouraged Nigerians to continue the use of the face masks, physical distancing and others to reduce the spread of infection.
