United Nations (UN) former Secretary General Kofi Annan is to be buried on the 13th of September, 2018 as the family and the foundation made the announcement via social media page a few hours ago.

According to the short statement released on the burial arrangement, the former United Nations (UN) Secretary General will be buried at his country home in Ghana.

The late Secretary General will be given a state burial, as the Ghanian President Nana Akufor-Addo has ordered the late statesman be given appropriate and befitting burial.

This is also coming as the Government at the news of the demise of one of Ghana’s best and the most popular and soft spoken Secretary General ever produced by United Nation, ordered a week of national mouring to honour the late Kofi Annan.

The late former Secretary General will also be honoured by the United Nations, as after his burial in Ghana, a memorial service will be held on his name in New York City, United States of America, and this was also stated earlier.

The statement as released by his family and the Kofi Annan Foundation, reads:

“We can now confirm that Kofi Annan will receive a state funeral and burial in Ghana on 13 September, with memorial services to follow in New York City and Geneva at later”

Kofi Annan died a few days ago at his ridence, and was age, 80 when he died. The statement of his Foundation and family announcing his death a few days ago, reads:

“It is with immense sadness that the Annan family and the Kofi Annan Foundation announced that Kofi Annan, former Secretary General of the United Nations (UN) and Noble Peace Laureate, passed peacefully on Saturday 18th August, after a short illness. His wife Nane and their children And, Koko and Nina were by his side during his last days” the statement as released concluded.
