The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has issued a certificate of return to senators-elect, Ahmad Babba Kaita of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from Katsina North Senatorial District and Lawal Yahaya Gumau also of the APC, Bauchi South Senatorial District.

INEC is issuing the certificate following last weekend by-elections in Katsina and Bauchi State, where the candidates of the APC won the Senatorial District by-elections.

Mr. Lawan Gumau, who is a former member of the House of Representatives won the Bauchi South Senatorial District By-election, held on Saturday with a total vote of 119,489 votes to defeat eight other contestants, amongst them, the immediate past governor of the state, Mr Isa Yuguda of the Green Party of Nigeria, who polled 33,079 votes.
