Nigerians no matter what, will always prove to you that they are very difficult (in a good way though) please, especially when you have once given them a good reason not to trust you. This is clearly the situation of the captain of the Nigerian Super Eagles John Obi Mikel and teammates have found themselves, after their first game defeat to Croatia in the on-going Russia 2018 FIFA world cup.
After he was lambasted on social media for a post about giving out his jersey for a competition immediately after the defeat against Croatia, and blaming him for not showing leadership as a captain for the woeful performance of his team, John Obi Mik in a press conference said he will be willing to sacrifice a position in order for the team to continue to win games. He said he will welcome any role given to him as long as it is in the interest of the team. He said:
I am the captain of this team. If I have to sacrifice for this team to progress, I will. If I have to sacrifice a position go play wherever, I will do that for this team to win games.
But Nigerians are not having none of it, as they quickly reminded Mikel on what he should do. See some of the comments:
