Senate on Thursday endorsed June 12 as Democracy Day in Nigeria

The Federal Government insists there will be no public holiday come 12th June 2018. This it tries to clarify as some Nigerians since the President’s Declaration of June 12 as the new Democracy day in Nigeria, some already feel automatically June 12 becomes a public holiday.

While making the clarification, the Presidency made reference to the letter of the declaration, which says “in future years to come”.

The Presidency while putting up the letter captioned it with:

There have been questions regarding whether or not there will be a FEDERAL public holiday on June 12, 2018.

The answer is NO.

Presidential Order says June 12 “in FUTURE YEARS will replace May 29th as a National Public Holiday in celebration of Nigeria Democracy Day.”
