The senator Representing Kaduna Central Senatorial Zone has questioned the continued killings of Nigerians by alleged herdsmen and bandits, saying these killings have continued unabated because the victims are the poor in rural areas. He blamed the ruling political class for the continued killings, as they lack the willingness to nip the crisis in the bud, due to the fact that those who are being killed are the poor and peasants in rural areas of the country.

The Senator who is aggrieved after there was a report of another attack in Birnin Gwari in Kaduna state, took to his social media page to express this thought.

He said if it were to be the political class and senior citizens the story would have been different as they would have found a way to resolve the ceaseless killings.

In a statement he released online, he said:

The indifference of the ruling political establishment to end the ceaseless violence & killings in the country is based on the fact that the victims are the poor and the peasants in rural areas.

According to news reports over 50 people were reportedly killed in the fresh attack on communities in Birnin Gwari Local government of Kaduna state. This is just one of the many attacks that have taken place in that local government and its environs in Kaduna state.

The state governor Mallam Nasir El-Rufai has also condemned the attack, giving his assurance of a possible permanent military station located in that area.

We wait to see what happens in the coming days, as promises have also been made on numerous occasions in areas and states where these killings are happening but it has not stopped the continued killings and reprisals. Hopefully, something is done urgently.
