Former Minister of Aviation Mr Femi Fani Kayode has called the Oba of Iwoland Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi a ‘Treacherous Bastard’ and someone trying to Islamatize his people for adopting the ’emir’ title over the ‘Oba’ title which the throne he has occupied for nearly three years now was known as. The former Minister and Peoples Democratic Party member, who is also from the Yoruba race, lashed out at the Oluwo of Iwoland Abdurasheed Adewale Akanbi Gbaase II, and the Ilufemiloye Telu I for dropping a Yoruba traditionally recognised crown.
Fani Kayode who took to his twitter handle to vent the abominable act said:
This is Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi, the Oluwo of Iwo who now insists that he must be called the Emir of Yorubaland.
He is a gutless and treacherous bastard who is an Islamofascist and who has sold his people to the Fulani raiders.
May God curse the day that he was born.
A King in Yoruba land is known as Oba and that of the North or Northern region of the country, they are mostly known as Emir, so the choice of the Oba who is now an emir, is like ceding his Kingdom and constituted authorities to the supreme leader of the North, which is the Sultan of Sokoto, and this is not going down well with Femi Fani-Kayode.
The Oluwo of who came to the thrown just three years ago, in 2015 gave his reasons for dumping the Oba title for emir as his aim to emulate the northerners, as there is no unity amongst the Obas in the Western Region of the Country. He said:
I have decided to to officially adopt Emir title today because want to emulate the attitudes of Northern emirs. They don’t begrudge themselves like Yoruba Obas. He said.
Hmmm, this is serious oh I wonder what his people are thinking on this controversial move by their Obas…
