The traditional wedding that took place between the son of Oyo State Governor, Senator Ajimobi and the Daughter of another Governor from the North, and Kano State to be precise, Ganduje, could be said to be the most glamorous wedding ever witnessed in Nigeria for a very long time now. The wedding that had virtually all the ‘who is who’ in the Nigerian Political space in attendance, from Senate President and some Senator and up to President, definitely, is the biggest for now.
The social media was not left out, as users lashed out at Presidency and those that addended the event, according to them, such a time when Nigeria is grappling with internal security challenges, and the Dapchi and Herdsmen and Farmers Killings, such a show of shame was uncalled for. It trended for days on social media, for all the good and bad of it all.
Even in all the negativity, the positives were more, as the couple, Fatima and Idris could not hide their joy, after seeing the calibre of personalities gracing their traditional wedding in Kano.
The Traditional wedding took place in far away Kano State, and just yesterday, the ‘white wedding’ followed in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, and this time, it was more of family and close associates of the couple, and the Vice President Osinbajo and First Lady, Aisha Buhari who graced the event. There were other top government officials, present, but the fanfare was nothing like what was witnessed in Kano, which seems more like a political gathering than a traditional wedding.
The first lady who put up some of the photos at the event, wished the couple a married life, as she also prays for both parents for allowing the coming together of Fatima and Idris. She took to her social media page to write:
Today I joined the families of Gov. Ajimobi and Gov. Ganduje as they celebrate the wedding of their children Fatima and Idris at Ibadan. I wish them a happy married life.
