A French man has been arrested by the Police, for allegedly stabbing to death a mother out of jealousy at the Lot-Et-Garonne area of the country, AFP reports.
According to the report, the 41-year-old suspect who has since been indicted and remanded in custody said that he acted “out of jealousy in Marmande (Lot-et-Garonne), the Agen prosecutor’s office announced.
The suspect was indicted for “murder by a person acting in a state of obvious intoxication” and incurs life imprisonment, said the prosecution.
Eight stab wounds
Friday, the Moroccan national working as a facade coater in the Lot-et-Garonne region, admitted to the investigators “having stabbed” a 31-year-old woman, with whom “he had had episodic relations for a very short time”, explained the public prosecutor of Agen Manuella Garnier to the press.
According to her, the suspect “indicated having acted out of jealousy” when he “understood that the victim was dating another man”.
The young woman, the mother of three children, received eight stab wounds “of great violence”, in the face, skull and left flank, at her home around 1 a.m. Thursday, according to the prosecution after an autopsy. Firefighters found her dead a few minutes after the incident in a street in downtown Marmande near her home.
The man, already convicted of acts of violence in 2020, had been arrested on Friday morning at the home of a friend in La Réole (Gironde), about twenty kilometres from Marmande.
