The Senator Abiola Ajimobi led National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have turned down the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting invitation purportedly convened by the President Buhari recognised acting National Chairman of the party, Victor Giadom.

According to the Ajimobi led NWC, speaking on the NEC meeting invitation, said that the President was offered wrong advice or blackmailed into lending his weighty office to the illegality of the National Executive Committee.

A statement signed by the Acting National Secretary of the party respectfully implores the President to kindly avail himself with facts of the matter regarding the impasse presently experienced by the Party to guide him in his assessment of the matter.

The statement says the Senator Ajimobi led NWC regrets to turn down the meeting invitation to the illegal and unconstitutionally convened NEC by Chief Victor Giadom.

President Muhammadu Buhari had on Wednesday 24th June 2020, recognised Victor Giadom as the Acting National chairman, thereby nullifying the appointment of Senator Ajimobi as the acting national chairman after an Appeal Court judgement on Adams Oshiomhole as national chairman.

The President in a statement released by Garba Shehu had said that the former Deputy National Secretary of APC, Victor Giadom is the new National Chairman of the party and this President decided this after receiving convincing advice on the position of the law on the leadership tussle in the ruling party.

Garba Shehu continued by saying that President Buhari said as far as the situation in the party is concerned and has determined, the law is on the side of Victor Giadom as Acting National Chairman.

The President also cautioned the media on their report about the Victor Giadom and the APC sage. He said:

“We urge the media to stop promoting manufactured controversies and to not give any further room for mischievous interpretations of the law on this matter,” he added.

The President said there will be a meeting in which Giadom, hopefully, will attend other APC Governors and the leaders of the National Assembly. But the meeting invitation has now been rejected by the NWC led by Senator Ajimobi.
