Manchester City on Sunday at the Wembley stadium, beat Aston Villa by 2-1 to retain the Carabao Cup for third time in a row. The win also saw them winning their fourth league cup in five years.

Manchester City, as expected did what everyone knew they would, as they dominated the game from start to finish, and although there were some panic moments at both ends, City showed class, and they thoroughly deserved their triumph despite a spirited effort from Aston Villa.

All the goals from the Carabao cup final on Sunday, came from Sergio Aguero and Rodrigo for Manchester City and Mbawana Samatta for Aston Villa.

It started with Sergio Aguero’s strike and Rodri’s header from a corner that was hotly contested by Villa put them in complete control inside 30 minutes. But Aston Villa offered themselves a lifeline when Mbwana Samatta headed in from Anwar El Ghazi’s cross four minutes before the interval.

While City dominated the game and was looking for a third goal to seal off the final, Aston Villa almost pulled it level, as Bjorn Engels header from a corner was agonisingly close but City’s Claudio Bravo pulled a fantastic save to deny Villa an extra time. It was their last chance, and one of the best in the second half, as City ran home with yet another Carabao Cup trophy which is their first real silverware for the season.
