According to reports, there has been yet another tanker explosion around the popular Iyana-Iba area of Lagos State, notorious for its bad road and abandoned road projects, as a tanker loaded with 33,000 litres of petroleum fell off a bad spot of the road and burst into flame, killing at least two in the process.
The Iyana-Iba road which is along the ever busy Mile 2-Badagry Expressway is popular for its heavy traffic and an area scattered with a lot of Government abandoned projects, with the alleged World Bank ten-lane road project being one of them. It is not a surprise to hear of another Tanker explosion in the area, as commuters and residents give accounts of how they constantly live in fear of armed robbers, tanker explosions and how they have been caged in their houses due to indiscriminate parking of Tankers, and containers.
Residents in the Iyana-Iba, Ojo Barrack area of Lagos spend hours on the road due to heavy traffic caused by bad road, and this latest accident will sure see passengers stranded for hours just like what happened three weeks ago when a similar incident happened.
According to officials of Lagos state traffic management authority they have cordoned off the road for now while awaiting evacuation. See more photos:
