Loris Karius has joined Besiktas on a two-year loan, as he looks to continue his football away from Liverpool.
The 25-year old Loris Karius saw his place in Liverpool relegated to the bench after a horrible experience at last season’s UEFA Champions League final against the eventual Champions Real Madrid. His errors at the goal were what gave Real Madrid their record third Champions League trophy in a row.
Also, the big money signing of Brazilian goalkeeper Alisson Becker from AS Roma meant that Loris Karius’s place as the first-choice goalkeeper was in question, and sensing he was not going to be a part of manager Klopp’s future plans, he opted for the loan move.
In a statement released by the club on their website as relating Loris Karius’s loan move, they stated on Liverpoolfc.com that:
“The 25-year-old [Loris Karius] is set to spend the remainder of 2018-19 and the whole of 2019-20 with the Super Lig outfit, who have started the new campaign with back-to-back league victories.
Karius has made 49 appearances for the Reds since joining the club from Mainz in 2016 and was named on the bench for Liverpool’s opening Premier League fixture of the season, against West Ham United.
Besiktas contested the first leg of their Europa League play-off against Partizan on Thursday and continue their league schedule at home to Antalyaspor on Sunday evening.

Liverpool in their quest to win the English Premier League this time around, and also win a trophy, invested huge amount on Alisson Becker to strengthen the one area they felt they were falling short.
So far, it is proving to be the best investment, as Liverpool in their last three games in the English Premier League, are yet to concede any goal, while they have netted a total of seven goals so far.
