Amaechi Muonagor: Anambra First Lady Mrs Nonye Soludo Mourns Nollywood Actor

Anambra First Lady Nonye Soludo on Monday, joined millions of other Nollywood lovers to mourn the passing of legendary actor Amaechi Muonagor who died at the age of 62 on Sunday.

Taking to her official handle on Monday 25th March 2024, Anambra First Lady Mrs Soludo posted a throwback photo of when she visited the late Nollywood actor in the hospital and shared how the actor was happy to see her, and how she believed the actor was going to overcome and bounce back.

She captioned the photo with this statement to mourn the passing the late actor Amaechi Muonagor.

The news of Chief Amaechi Muonagor’s passing is a sore hit in the heart. Last Christmas, I visited this great Anambra son at the medical facility where he was recuperating. We shared jokes and he assured me that he did bounce back soon. I believed him.

This is a heartbreaking loss for our dear state and for all of us who admired Chief Muonagor’s screen personality. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Muonagor family through this period of grief. Rest well in God’s peaceful bosom, Aguiyi Obosi.” she said.

Amaechi Muonagor’s death was confirmed by his cousin and ace singer “Tony One Week” on his official Instagram account late Sunday.

“Rest in peace, Meeche,” he captioned a photo with a burning candle. “You made your mark on society. Adieu nwanne.”

In November, the singer broke the news of his cousin’s health challenge.

“Amaechi is currently down with kidney disease, diabetes, and stroke. He had been managing his diabetes over the years and living his life. He is presently undergoing weekly dialysis and other treatments at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital Nnewi,” the Onwa December crooner wrote on his Facebook page.

“His family had been shouldering the costs for years until the recent stroke made his case more serious and indeed more expensive to battle alone, hence the publicity.

“Within the limits of my capabilities, I have done and am still doing my best to assist as much as I can, even reaching out to well-meaning individuals who are donating to this cause.”

The late actor was famous for his role in the 2022 movie Aki and Pawpaw.  He acted in Igodo, Karishika, Last Burial, and Police Recruit among other movies.

He was a native of Idemili in Anambra State.
