Birnin Gwari: Bandits Kill 7 NSCDC Officers In Kaduna

Seven officers of the Nigeria Security & Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) are reported to have been killed by bandits in the Birnin Gwari area of Kaduna state, authorities of the corps said in a released statement.

The NSCDC confirmed the killings of its officers on Tuesday 10th January 2023, in a twitter post on its official handle, saying that the corps is in mourning following the death of the seven Civil Defense officers by bandits at the Kuriga mining site in Birnin Gwari area in Kaduna state in the northwest of Nigeria.

In a message published by the agency, it said that its officers were ambushed and killed along with five other officers wearing royal uniforms of another agency.

The Public Relations Officer of the agency, Olusola Odumosu, in a statement issued on Tuesday said the officers were working with the Kaduna State Ministry of Mines and were on duty at the time of the incident.

The statement said, “After the attack, the bandits stole the weapons of the officers and ran away with them.”

The Commander-in-Chief of the agency, Ahmed Audi, described the situation as a great loss for the agency and the country as a whole.

He also consoled the families of the deceased and their relatives and friends and prayed for forgiveness for them.

Birnin Gwari area is one of the most dangerous areas in Kaduna state where bandits are infested.
