The President Of Republic of Zimbabwe Mr Emmerson Mnangagwa has condemned the deadly explosion that rocked a political rally in a town in Zimbabwe today, calling it a cowardly act.

The President who had earlier claimed that the bomb or whatever it was might have been targeted at him, regrets the incident, as he prays for the quick recovery of those unfortunate to have been hit in the explosion.

President Emmerson Mnangagwa since taking over from Robert Mugabe has been attracting a lot of foreign aids as he looks to rebuild the battered economy of his country, while also encouraging youths in the country to participate in politics.

His taking over of power was widely welcomed by all and was fully embrace. But this incident suggests that Emmerson Mnangagwa will have some political outreach to do to bring any aggrieved person or persons onboard in the running of the new Zimbabwe.

The President in condemning the incident said:

This afternoon, as we were leaving a wonderful rally in Bulawayo, there was an explosion on the stage. Several people were affected by the blast, and I have already been to visit them in the hospital.

While we await further information, my thoughts and prayers are with all those affected by this senseless act of violence. The campaign has been conducted in a free and peaceful environment, and we will not allow this cowardly act to get in our way as we move towards elections.

Let us continue to be united and address our differences peacefully. The strongest response to violence is peace. The strongest response to hate is love. God Bless Zimbabwe
