The member representing Iseyin/Itesiwaju/Kajola/Iwajowa federal constituency, Oyo, in the Green Chamber of the National Assembly, Hon. Shina Peller has reacted to Soun of Ogbomoso’s death, where he released a statement to commiserate with the people of Ogbomoso, Oyo and the entire Yoruba land.
Hon Shina Peller while reacting to Soun of Ogbomoso’s death, in the statement released and signed on Sunday 12th December 2021, expressed shock and sadness over the passing of His Royal Majesty, Oba Oladunni Oyewumi Ajagungbade III who joined his ancestors today at age 95.
The statement released by the honourable member on his official social media handle on Sunday, on Soun of Ogbomoso’s death, reads:
“Aside from the fact that baba was my royal father, he treated me more like his own son, coupled with the fact that his son, Prince Sijuade Oyewumi, is my bosom friend and schoolmate back at LAUTECH. Often a time, we would visit the palace, and baba would always be happy to see us.
Though we are saddened by the passing away of His Royal Majesty, we take solace in the fact that he lived a purposeful life worth of emulation. His contribution to the development and peaceful coexistence of not only his subjects, but Yorubas at large, remained noteworthy.
Baba was able to prove to all that his ascension to the throne of his forefathers was for a purpose, and the legacy he has left behind will forever be remembered. My heartfelt condolences to the entire family, loved ones and the people that baba has left behind. May his soul rest in peace. Amen,” he said.
Soun of Ogbomoso’s death was announced on Sunday, as the 20th Soun of Ogbomoso was reported to have passed on in the early hours of Sunday, at the age of 95.
Mr Toyin Ajamu, Private Secretary to Oba Oyewunmi confirmed that an official announcement would be made by the appropriate quarters soon.
Oba Oyewunmi, born on May 27, 1926, to the Gbagun ruling house, ascended the throne in 1973 and reigned as Ajagungbade III for 48 years.
