The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu has revealed that three students of the Dowen College have been arrested over Sylvester Oromoni’s death.

He stated this while speaking on Channels TV.

Twelve years old Sylvester died after he was allegedly bullied by his fellow students.

The Commissioner of Police in the state, Hakeem Odumosu, on Tuesday, confirmed that three out of the five students who were named in connection to the Sylvester Oromoni’s death are already in custody, while two are currently at large.

It would be recalled that the parents of the late Sylvester Oromoni had said their son before his death, mentioned the names of five senior students, who allegedly tortured and beat him up for refusing to join a cult group in the school.

Following the death of the 12-year-old student of the school located in Lekki, Lagos, three students, suspected to be involved in the alleged torture of the boy on Tuesday, visited the State Criminal Investigative Department (SCID), Panti, Yaba in Lagos for questioning.

Meanwhile, late Oromoni died of complications last week as a result of injuries he sustained after he was allegedly attacked by the senior students.

After the news of his death got in the media space, the incident has caused a buzz with many activists and celebrities calling for the prosecution of the perpetrators.

It would be recalled that the family of the late Senator Buruji Kashamu, whose son, Adewale, was alleged to be involved in the matter had denied his involvement, saying he was only Sylvester’s school father.

National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, South-West Zone, had on Monday, set up a fact-finding committee to look into the matter just as it vowed to take up the case and ensure that justice prevails.

Also, the family of late Sylvester Oromoni has hired human rights lawyer, Mr Femi Falana, SAN, who has already written the Lagos State Chief Coroner, demanding an inquest into the death of the 12-year-old.

The Lagos State government has since shut down the school, while the police have commenced investigation into the case.
