Dani Leigh And DaBaby Split After Yellow Bone Controversy

Dani Leigh is reported to have called off her relationship with boyfriend DaBaby, just days after becoming embroiled in a colourism row over her song Yellow Bone.

According to reports, Dani Leigh who went public with the Rockstar rapper on social media in December after almost a year of dating rumours, has just confirmed that she is single again.

Dani Leigh had mentioned DaBaby in her apology over Yellow Bone and stated she was ‘dating a chocolate man’. However, it seems the whirlwind romance has come to an end as Dani Leigh shared a simple post in her Instagram stories which said: ‘Officially single.’

DaBaby, real name Jonathan Kirk, had earlier hinted at their split when he reposted reality star and influencer India Love’s Masterpiece TikTok challenge and wrote: ‘This Tik Tok is a #Masterpiece 🔥.’

The 29-year-old rapper then offered out a date, adding: ‘Best re-enactment of this Tik Tok gets flown out for a date w/ Baby on Valentine’s Day.❤️😂 Choosing the winner Friday, February 12th.
Starting now.. GO!’ DaniLeigh, 26, and DaBaby are thought to have met in 2019 when she choreographed his Bop music video.

The pair fuelled the rumours when they collaborated on the track Levi High while the mother of DaBaby’s children claimed they were together.

However, when asked on Power 105.1’s Breakfast Club if they were dating, DaniLeigh said: ‘I mean it is what it is. I know it comes with this life. I already know you post something, people just gon’ catch on I guess, so. I don’t know, it is what it is. I don’t really care.’

Last month, Dani Leigh was heavily criticised for her single Yellow Bone which was accused of perpetuating colourist views favouring lighter skin women. Addressing the backlash, the singer and dancer said she wasn’t a racist as she was dating a dark skin man.

‘I date a whole chocolate man, I have beautiful dark skin friends and skin isn’t even something I see. It’s not something I look at,’ she said. ‘I don’t live for the internet because people don’t know me so that’s why I thought it was important to speak on it.’

She added: ‘It wasn’t something I looked at so deeply, which I can see why people will take it deeply so I understand and I’m sorry that I wasn’t sensitive to the topic when I wrote my comment like, “Why are you guys taking it so offensively?” because it can be a personal thing to certain people because colourism is a real thing so I do get it. ‘But I’m not that, I’m not a colourist, I’m not a racist.’
