Biden's Win: Trump Promises Orderly Transition Of Power

President Donald Trump of the United States, has promised an orderly transition of power, a few hours after Congress affirmed Joe Biden’s win.

“ There will be an orderly transition on January 20th” he said.

The confirmation by Congress came a few hours after pro-Trump supporters stormed the U.S. Capitol and breached the security there, with many injured and some killed in the riot.

Trump says in a statement tweeted by his social media director Dan Scavino, “Even though I totally disagree with the outcome of the election, and the facts bear me out, nevertheless, there will be an orderly transition on January 20th.”

He adds: “I have always said we would continue our fight to ensure that only legal votes were counted. While this represents the end of the greatest first term in presidential history, it’s only the beginning of our fight to Make America Great Again.”

Trump’s account is currently locked by Twitter.

Trump’s statement came after his supporters, those he had encouraged via his Twitter handle to defend their mandate stormed Capitol building on Wednesday in a chaotic protest aimed at thwarting a peaceful transfer of power, forcing lawmakers to be rushed from the building and interrupting challenges to Joe Biden’s Electoral College victory. Congress returned later Wednesday to resume their proceedings after the Capitol was cleared by law enforcement.

The confirmation of Joe Biden’s win by Congress was done on Thursday 7th January 2021, as they formally tabulated each state’s Electoral College votes, with Vice President Mike Pence announcing before a joint session of Congress that Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris had won 306 votes over Trump’s 232.
