Omah Lay, Tems and one Muyiwa are back to Nigeria, after their ordeal in Uganda, where they have gone to perform to their fans.
The news of their arrival was first reported by the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission on their official Twitter handle on Thursday 17th December 2020.
According to the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, which posted photos of Stanley Omah Didia, Temilade Openiyi, and one Muyiwa Ayoniyi, stated that the trio landed into the country from Uganda via an Ethiopia Airline at about 12:35 pm on Thursday.
The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, while posting the photos of the Nigerian trio, also used the opportunity to thank the Nigeria Mission in Ugandan, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and NiDCOM for facilitating their returns.
Omah Lay, Tems and Muyiwa as we reported a few days ago, were arrested in Uganda for allegedly engaging in activities that can spread COVID-19. They were arrested after their show in Uganda by the Ugandan Police, and thereafter, charged to court for violating the COVID-19 rules in the country.
The charges were dropped after much pressure both from within Uganda and outside. The three Nigerians were thereafter transported to the Nigeria Mission in Uganda, before their arrival on Thursday.
The Ugandan Authorities had in a statement on Monday 14th December 2020, where they were giving an update on the case, stated that the Nigerians were charged in Makindye on charges of negligence which are likely to spread COVID-19, and violation of the panel code Act.
The statement reads:
“The Nigerian trio of Stanley Omah Didia alias Omah Lay, Temilade Openyi alias Tems and Muyiwa Awomiyi have been charged to court in Makindye on charges of Negligently doing acts likely to spread an infectious diseases C/S 171 of the Penal Code Act.
The earlier plans of releasing them on police bond, were suspended after their casefile was sanctioned by the Office of the DPP. They were jointly charged with four other Ugandans. All remanded till Wednesday 16.12.2020,” the statement added.
We are yet to get any official statement from the trio, as we can only imagine the trauma they have passed through in the last few days. Thank God, they are back home and safe.
