The Governor of Lagos State Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu who clocks 55-years old on Thursday, has urged his friends not to post birthday congratulatory messages for him on Newspapers, as he looks to continue the tradition on his 55th birthday.

In a statement ahead of his birthday, the Governor announced that his wish was to continue his tradition of reaching out and sharing love with the needy in the society on his birthday and advised friends, families, professional colleagues and political associates not to place congratulatory advertisements in newspapers to celebrate his birthday.

He said an occasion of one’s birthday, especially a milestone such as the age of 55, should be a day to reflect on one’s purpose of existence in life and, this according to him, is “to serve the humanity”.

While thanking his numerous supporters and well-wishers, who may have planned to celebrate with him in one way or another as he turns 55, Governor Sanwo-Olu advised them to ignore the congratulatory messages and use same resources to touch the lives of the most vulnerable people in their spheres of influence.

“The best birthday gift anyone would give me at this period is to identify those at the bottom of the pyramid wherever they reside, lift them up by putting smiles on their faces that way, you would have lifted my heart too.” He said

The Governor who revealed that he would be spending the better part of the day to attend to many important State matters in addition to reaching out to the vulnerable and poor emphasised that there was no plan for any other form of celebration.
