The Lagos State Executive Council on Friday 5th June 2020, announced that it has approved the selection of Prince Gbolahan Lawal as the new Oniru-Elect of Iruland.
Prince Gbolahan Lawal who is now the new Oba-elect, was until his election, the Commissioner for Agriculture in Lagos State, who also a seasoned administrator with over 25 years postgraduate experience with an in-depth knowledge of the workings of the Public Sector.
Governor Sanwo-Olu who made this disclosure, described Prince Gbolahan Lawal as driven, focused, steadfast and passionate. “Prince Lawal’s excellent leadership, communication, collaborative and organizational skills have over the years sharpened his ability to identify, analyse and proffer strategic transformational change.
His exemplary work ethics and selflessness is what has kept him as one of the longest serving members of our state’s cabinet,” the Governor added.
As the new Oniru of Iruland, Prince Gbolahan Lawal will take over the illustrious throne and build on the worthy legacy of his forebears.
Governor Sanwo-Olu thereafter, said “On behalf of the government and people of Lagos, I wish the new Oniru a successful reign that will usher in progress and development of Iruland and our state.”
The selection of Prince Gbolahan Lawal comes after the death of His Royal Highness, Oba Abiodun Oniru who joined his forebears in September 2019, at the age of 82 after a brief illness.
