COVID-19: Five More Players Test Positive In Spain

Five more players have tested positive for coronavirus across Spain’s top two divisions, a few days after training resumed, La Liga has said.

Reports obtained from BBC Sports said five more players in Spain were reported to have been confirmed positive for the virus, but their names were not made public, as the unnamed players are all said to be asymptomatic and are now in isolation.

They will continue to be tested and can only rejoin training when they return two consecutive negative results, the report added.

La Liga started testing players last week as part of the protocols in place for training to resume and elite football in Spain to get going again behind closed doors in June.

A number of clubs, including Barcelona, started individual training last week.

These five more  that have tested positive will not halt the training, as clubs are waiting patiently for authorities to give the go-ahead for resumption.

Spain has been one of the worst-hit countries in Europe with 26,621 deaths and 224,390 infections as of 10 May.
