President Muhammadu Buhari will address the nation today, Monday April 27, 2020 at 8pm, as Nigerians are waiting to know whether or not there would be an extension or lifting of the COVID-19 lockdown order.
According to the statement released by a senior spoksperson to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr Garba Shehu, a few hours ago, President Muhammadu Buhari will address the nation on the COVID-19 pandemic and all Television, radio and other electronic media stations are enjoined to hook up to the network services of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) and Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) respectively for the broadcast.
No further details were given on what the President is likely to address, but given the increased rate of confirmed cases of the coronavirus in Nigeria, especially in states where COVID-19 lockdown orders were imposed, and the negative economic impacts on the economy and Nigerians, together with the alarming deaths rate in Kano, there is the possibility of the President extending the lockdown for two more weeks to contain the spread. But we hope the President will touch on something that would cheer up Nigerians at the end of the day.
