The Lagos State Government has announced that seven more patients have been discharged from their Biosecurity facility in Yaba, having tested negative twice to the coronavirus, and after 14-days in isolation.
The latest development which was made known on Thursday 9th April 2020, by Governor Sanwo-Olu, brings the total number of patients so far discharged from the state with the highest number of coronavirus infected patients to 39.
Governor Sanwo-Olu while speaking on the seven more patients, said they consisted of one female and six male, but did not give further details about the patients.
The Governor when briefing Lagosians that seven more patients have dischareged, also said that out of the seven patients there were three foreign nationals. He said:
“Good people of Lagos,
I have more great news from our Biosecurity facility at Yaba, which is a testament to our resolve to overcome the lethal COVID19 pandemic ravaging the World.
Today, we have discharged 7 persons having fully recovered and tested negative twice consecutively for COVID-19. This brings to 39 the number of discharged patients in Lagos,” he said.
He continued by saying:
“The patients include one female and six males; three of the discharged male patients are foreign nationals, two Ukrainian and one Italian.
As we look forward to more great news in the coming days, I implore you all to support our offensive against the disease by complying with our directives and taking responsibility for yourselves and your community.
In the coming days, some of our health workers will be moving around in pairs to administer an electronic questionnaire at homes and healthcare facilities to make enquiries about some symptoms like cough, cold and fever.
This is in a bid to intensify our search for possible cases of Covid19 in different communities across the State known as *Active Case Search*. These officials can be identified with a Covid19 outbreak response tag or a letter from the LGA. I implore you to give them your maximum support by providing accurate information that would help in containing this pandemic quickly.
Again, I assure you that at the end of it all, we will hoist a flag of victory with your co-operation and by the special grace of The Almighty.

While this is a piece of cheering news from Lagos, the state still has the highest number of confirmed cases in Nigeria, as just last night, from the update given by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) out of the 22 new confirmed cases on Wednesday 8th April 2020, at about 9:00 pm, Lagos state recorded 15 new cases.
The total figure of confirmed cases in Nigeria as on Wednesday stands at 276.
