NFF Denies owing Rohr 3 Months Salary, says Dennerby resigned

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has denied owing Super Eagles head coach, Gernot Rohr three months salary which translates into $150,000. The Federation also revealed that the National team coach for the Super Falcons Dennerby has resigned his position days after failing to qualify Nigeria to the Tokyo Olympics.

The Nigerian Football governing body in a statement released a few hours ago, refuted the media reports that the body is owing three months, as it insists that what they are owing the Super Eagles coach is just one month, which is the salary for September, which is being processed. See the statement below:

NFF explains Rohr, Dennerby situations

The NFF wishes to put records straight with regards to a claim in the social media on Friday, 11th October 2019 that the football house is owing Super Eagles’ Technical Adviser, Gernot Rohr, three months’ salary. As we speak, Mr. Rohr is only being owed salary for the month of September 2019, which is being processed.

As for Mr. Thomas Dennerby, we have received his resignation letter and of course, he has his right to resign from a job. We want to put it on record that no Head Coach in the history of the Super Falcons has been afforded the level and readiness of support that has been provided Mr. Dennerby by this Board. Perhaps, one of the reasons he left was because we did not accede to his request to bring in more expatriate coaches and an indigenous coach who do not have the required license.

If we had agreed to his request for more expatriate coaches, that would have left our indigenous coaches presently with the team in the lurch” the NFF stated.

While the true situation of things is not known, as even the manager himself, Rohr has refused to comment on the issue, keeping everything professional; the Super Eagles of Nigeria will on Sunday 13th October 2019 play a grade A friendly match against Brazil in Singapore, at 1 pm Nigerian time on Sunday.
