Princess Charlotte who is still just 4, on Thursday arrived for her first day of school which cost about N8million naira a year, looking so cheerful as she is accompanied by her 6-year-old brother Prince George, and her parents of Prince William and Kate Middleton.

The Royal family were photographed walking into Thomas’s Battersea in London early Thursday morning. The royal children were both wearing the uniforms required by the private school. Charlotte also wore her navy Mary Jane shoes from Amaia and added a personal touch to her backpack: a sequined unicorn keychain, People had reported.

The report by People added that the family arrived at around 8.20 a.m. London time. Initially clutching mom Kate’s right hand with both of hers, a shy Princess Charlotte then relaxed her grip as she walked across the schoolyard. A few steps away, big brother George held the hand of their Dad Prince William.

Kate, who wore her Michael Kors floral printed dress (which she also wore to Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s wedding rehearsal!), and William carried their children’s backpacks as they made their way to the school’s entrance.

As they walked in, William expressed how Charlotte was feeling — turning to teacher Haslem and saying, “First day — very excited.”

Kate then asked her, “How are you? Did you have a nice summer?

The royal parents took Charlotte to her classroom to meet her teacher and settle her in. The princess is in a class of 21, one of three reception classes in her year.

Thomas’s Battersea describes itself as a Christian school but is open to children of all faiths. It puts a huge emphasis on kindness and believes in ‘praise as the greatest motivator’. Parents are told their children will be in an atmosphere which seeks positive relationships between pupils, teachers and parents. George, who is six, started at the school in September 2017.

Kate was unable to attend his first day as she was suffering from severe morning sickness while pregnant with their third child Prince Louis. Art, ballet, drama, ICT, French, music and physical education are all taught by specialist teachers from a child’s first day.

The school is housed in a Grade II listed building, the former Sir Walter St John’s Grammar School which dates back to 1700.
