Vote buying: EFCC officials monitor election process Nationwide

The operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC officials monitors the ongoing electoral process Nationwide, as earlier today they were seen in some parts of the Polling units across the country, looking for Agents of political parties who would try to induce voters for votes.

The photos of EFCC officials monitoring the elections were released a few hours ago, as the Commission under Mr Magu has warned Nigerians against receiving and giving any form of inducement during and after the general election.

Mr Magu in his call to make sure vote or voters inducement of any means does not become a problem in this election and other ones, called on Nigerians not to mortgage their future but shun all forms of inducements particularly in form of physical cash  by politicians and political parties to vote for any candidate against their choice and conscience.
Speaking through a representative from the Enugu zonal office, he said:

Honestly, we want to move to a society where candidates tell us what they intend to do for the electorates in clear terms; with  ideas, programmes in education, security, infrastructures and general well being of the people and not with any sort of material or financial inducement such as money, rice or salt.

“ We have come to realise that we cannot pretend we are fighting corruption when the electoral process itself is fraudulent, we need a credible electoral system if there must be a credible government such that Nigerians would vote purely based on conviction and conscience”. Magu stressed.

While the EFCC officials and intelligence team are moving around Polling Units the radio sensitization programme is in continuation of the Commission’s determination to change the narrative of electoral process which had hitherto been characterized by vote buying and other forms of electoral fraud. Magu said.
