Eko Atlantic replies Davido insists the musician's claims are false

The management of Eko Atlantic City in Lagos, has a few hours ago released a statement refuting the claims by popular Nigerian singer, Davido that he was refused the use of their premises as a venue for an upcoming show, due to his political affiliations, saying there is no truth in the alleged claims.

Davido who is planning a show for his fans in Lagos, had earlier released a statement saying that the venue he planned on using, which is the Eko Atlantic, was not approved.
He said:
‘so my show this December at eko Atlantic Was not approved. I wonder why?’ He went on to say, ‘na the highest dem fit do be that. I will support who I want to support and not swicth sides for a fucking venue’.

The statement released by Eko Atlantic reads:

“It has been brought to our attention that we have denied the musician Davido request to use of the city for his upcoming concert……We received this request on November 8th to which we responded for clarification and details about the event on November 9th.

Subsequently we are yet to receive the requested information so the notion we declined his request is false !

Some of the additional information requested was pertaining to security provisions as Eko Atlantic is not an event centre and rather a city with existing residents and businesses.
In light of this we have strict rules and regulations when it comes to events and activities within the city which require due process.

To imply we are politically motivated cannot be further from the truth !

We expect the same safety and security measures from event organizers who hold events in Eko Atlantic City. Any event within the city requires a proper level of planning, safety, and security from event organisers.

As a final note Davido and some of his upcoming artists shot a video in Eko Atlantic earlier this year which we welcomed as we believe in the development of our entertainment industry in Nigeria as seen on our social media.”
