Breaking: Governor Wike emerges PDP Governorship candidate

Wike has a few hours ago won a return ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the Govenor of Rivers State emerged the Governorship candidate of the PDP for the 2019 Rivers state Governorship race.

Governor Wike in the PDP Governorship primaries held a few hours ago in Rivers state, emerged winner with a total vote of 3345 votes.

This results means Governor Wike will now fly the flag of the PDP for the second time, after he also won in 2015 to emerge the Governor, beating the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and candidate of Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi.

The result also set the stage for the Presidential primaries for the PDP which Rivers state has been chosen as the venue for the event.

Governor Wike who have been nicknamed “Mr. Projects” will be waiting for his APC opponent as the APC are also rounding up their own Governorship primaries in the Rivers State.

Ahead of the Presidential election in 2019, the Governor warned that what happened in Osun State where the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared the Governorship election inconclusive and a rerun declared and APC declared winner, will not happen and will be rejected if eventually INEC try such.

The Governor said those planning to try such in Rivers state should be prepared as Rivers state will resist any attempt to deny the people their votes and mandate.

In all the states where PDP held their Governorship primaries today, we saw all the incubent Governors emerging candidates of the PDP in the 2019 Governorship elections.

While others have been concluded, others especially in the Northern region are yet to conclude, as vote sorting and counting are still ongoing in some parts of the states controlled by PDP.

The PDP just like the APC adopted different approaches to their respective primary elections held across the country. It was either direct primaries for some states, or an indirect primaries.

The primaries held across the country were mostly indirect primaries and all the Governors seeking a re-election all won a return ticket.
