President Muhammadu Buhari has welcomed the released of abducted Jangebe schoolgirls. He said that he is pleased that their ordeal in the hands of abductors has come to a happy end without any incident.

The President in a statement released on Tuesday 2nd March 2021, via his official Twitter handle, while reacting to the release of the abducted Jangebe schoolgirls, said:

“I join the affected families and the people of Zamfara State in welcoming and celebrating the release of the abducted students of GGSS Jangebe. This news brings overwhelming joy. I am pleased that their ordeal has come to a happy end without any incident.

We are working hard to bring an end to these grim and heartbreaking incidents of kidnapping. The Military and the Police will continue to go after kidnappers. They need the support of local communities in terms of human intelligence that can help nip criminal plans in the bud,” he said.

The news of the release of the abducted Jangebe schoolgirls was first reported and confirmed by the Governor of Zamfara State, Governor Bello Matawalle.

The Governor who had blamed some persons for the abduction said the released abducted Jangebe schoolgirls are hale and hearty, and the total number of abducted persons is 279 and not 317 as widely reported a few days ago.

The Governor posted this message to announce the release of the Government Secondary School Jangebe who were abducted on Thursday night last week by bandits: The message reads:

“Alhamdulillah! It gladdens my heart to announce the release of the abducted students of GGSS Jangebe from captivity. This follows the scaling of several hurdles laid against our efforts. I enjoin all well-meaning Nigerians to rejoice with us as our daughters are now safe”, he said.

The girls arrived Gusau at 5am Tuesday morning on a bus, four days after their kidnap.

Addressing them in Government House, Zamfara Governor Bello Matawalle said they should take their ordeal in good faith and that the enemies would be shamed.
