Bianca Censori has raised eyebrows with her latest creative pursuit – a bizarre art show in Seoul, South Korea.
The Australian wife of US rapper Kanye West unveiled the long-teased project, BIO POP (THE ORIGIN), in the South Korean capital on Thursday, shocking fans with an exhibition filled with ‘human furniture’ designed by herself, masked doubles of herself and a highly stylised interpretation of domestic life.
Bianca Censori, 30, made a dramatic entrance in a skin-tight magenta latex bodysuit, teamed with pointed boots and her signature poker-straight hair with a soft fringe.
The performance opens with Bianca Censori meticulously baking a cake in a stylised kitchen.
After removing the cake from the oven, Bianca Censori placed the vivid red dessert on a trolley and wheeled it into a room filled with mannequin lookalikes encased in pieces of furniture.
Bianca’s younger sister Angelina, who was in the audience, documented the strange display, sharing a photo of Bianca perched on a bizarre chair constructed from one of the mannequins.
The figure’s back formed the seat, its forearms curled into armrests, and its head – eyes wide open – stared out from behind her.
A ‘human lamp’ dangled overhead, while a coffee table crafted from another mannequin sat nearby.
Angelina also posted a photo of Bianca Censori posing alongside her proud husband, clutching a vase of extravagant red flowers.
The architectural designer teased the showcase a week earlier with Instagram posts showing a heart-shaped ‘100mg’ pill bearing the exhibition’s name, a pair of plastic gloves and a mask shaped like Bianca’s face.
A statement on her official website explains that BIO POP seeks to stage ‘the body inside the language of the domestic’.
BIO POP is just the first chapter in a series of performances Bianca plans to unveil over the next several years.
The follow-up instalment, CONFESSIONAL (THE WITNESS), is scheduled for 2025, with BIANCA IS MY DOLL BABY (THE IDOL) listed for 2026 and additional works planned through 2027 and beyond.
The ambitious sequence is set to conclude in 2032 with BUBBLE (THE ASCENSION), though details of the finale remain under wraps.
Alongside the performance series, Bianca has also released a range of jewellery and accessories, including a $2,250 sterling silver cuff inspired by the contours of a medical speculum.
Bianca holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree in architecture from the University of Melbourne, and later trained at DP Toscano Architects in Collingwood, Victoria.
She met Kanye after joining Yeezy -West’s clothing and apparel company – as an architectural designer, and the couple married in December 2022.
