Billy Ray Cyrus has broken his silence on his daughter Miley Cyrus’ engagement.
The country crooner, 64, shared his reaction to the news on Wednesday in an Instagram post just one day after his pop star daughter, 33, confirmed her engagement.
Miley debuted a sparkling engagement ring on Monday while walking the red carpet with her now-fiancé Maxx Morando, 27, at a movie premiere in Los Angeles.
This comes shortly after the father-daughter duo mended their relationship following a years-long contentious family feud.
Since then, Billy Ray Cyrus has publicly penned messages to Miley, including a sweet Instagram tribute in honor of her recent 33rd birthday last month.
In his latest post, Billy Ray Cyrus spoke about his ‘special’ daughter and how he is ‘so happy’ for her and her future husband.
In response to her engagement, the father-of-six shared with a throwback photo of him and Miley with her godmother, country music legend Dolly Parton.
‘No wonder you turned out so special,’ he wrote in his caption, tagging Parton, 79. ‘You have the greatest Godmother in the world!!!’
He also reshared a photo of Miley and Maxx at Monday’s premiere of Avatar: Fire and Ash in Los Angeles, where she revealed their engagement by showing off the sparkler on her ring finger.
His post also included a photo of Miley, her hand newly bejeweled, with Maxx at her birthday dinner on November 23, which appeared to be taken and originally shared by Maxx’s dad Dan Morando.
In his caption, Billy Ray gushed about his daughter and his soon-to-be son-in-law: ‘So happy you and MaxxAgazillion found each other!!!! Congratulations! Happy to see you both so happy!!!’
The Achy Breaky Heart singer signed off with ‘love Dad’ and a red heart emoji.
His post comes after he and Miley reconciled earlier this year after a tense family rift.
Back in October, Miley shared that she had reached out to her dad with a ‘peace offering’ — in the form of a song she dedicated to him and gifted Billy Ray for his birthday in August.
She released the song Secrets in September as part of the deluxe edition of her latest album Something Beautiful.
In October, Miley revealed her dad’s emotional reaction to the heartfelt memento during an appearance on CBS Sunday Morning.
‘My dad cried,’ Miley told interviewer Tracy Smith, noting, ‘Everyone I say that to, they go, ‘I remember when my dad cried.”
‘You don’t see your dad cry a lot,’ she remarked before describing it as ‘something you remember,’ whether the tears are ‘happy’ or ‘painful.’
She also shared: ‘I don’t know if I’ve seen my dad cry since his dad passed away. My dad, you know… I just haven’t really seen that.’
In prior months, the pop star, her father, and some of her siblings were locked in a contentious rift following Billy Ray and Tish Cyrus’ 2022 divorce.
In reference to mending the family conflict, she stated, ‘We didn’t feel that there needed to be a whole conversation, because him and I just communicate better through song.’
She added, ‘And so once he got the song, it feels like it said something in a couple of minutes that would have taken, you know, maybe a family with a more structured, therapeutic dynamic a lot of sessions.’
The Flowers hitmaker explained, ‘But instead of us doing [therapy] sessions, we just do studio sessions and we send a song and we say, ‘I love you.’ And that feels peaceful for us.’
