Idris Elba and Sabrina have reportedly been targeted by a female stalker after the woman turned up at private events they attended separately in London on different days, Daily Mail reports.
The actor, 53, rose to fame in TV detective drama Luther where his character was stalked by a psychopathic female killer.
And the plot in part appears to now be striking a resemblance to his real life with the couple also being subject to distressing cyber-stalking via their personal email addresses, according to the report by Daily Mail.
The stalker has reportedly been tormenting Idris Elba and Sabrina since September, with the most recent instant recorded as October 21.
It is understood the police are aware of the incidents.
A source told The Sun on Sunday: ‘These events were seriously distressing for Idris and his family.
‘He had no choice but to report it to the authorities because it had gone too far.
‘When Sabrina was brought into it, that was clearly the final straw for him. He did what he felt he had to do to protect his wife, and his family.’
The Daily Mail have contacted Elba’s representatives for comment.
Idris recently made a rare appearance with his daughter Isan at the New York Film Festival premiere of A House Of Dynamite in September.
Often joined on the red carpet by his wife Sabrina, Idris this time brought his daughter Isan, 23, along for the evening.
Idris shares daughter Isan with his ex-wife, make-up artist Hanne ‘Kim’ Nørgaard while he also has two sons, Riaze Foster, 32, and Winston, 11, from other relationships.
Idris’s series A House Of Dynamite left critics in awe with its ‘horrifically gripping and unsettling’ nuclear war scenes that were dubbed ‘more terrifying than most horror films’.
The American political thriller premiered at the Venice International Film Festival on September 2 and will land on Netflix on October 24
The movie was directed by Kathryn Bigelow and written by Noah Oppenheim.
Joining Idris in the cast are Rebecca Ferguson, Gabriel Basso, Jared Harris, Tracy Letts, Anthony Ramos and Moses Ingram.
The plot follows how the US president tries to deal with an incoming missile attack – and doesn’t pull any punches.
‘When a single, unattributed missile is launched at the United States, a race begins to determine who is responsible and how to respond,’ the streaming site’s synopsis reads.
