Kim Kardashian has finally broken her silence on her controversial photoshoot with Justin Bieber, Daily Mail reports.
The pair collaborated together for an Elle shoot back in 2010 when the reality star was 30-years-old and the Baby hitmaker was just 16.
And now Kim Kardashian, 44, has admitted she thinks the shoot should have got her cancelled as she admitted ‘who thought that was a good idea?’
Speaking on the latest episode of the Call Her Daddy podcast, host Alex Cooper asked the star: ‘What is something you probably should have gotten cancelled for but didn’t?’
Kim Kardashian then confessed: ‘I know what it is and I think I am going to get cancelled if I say it.
‘I don’t know who approved this and I don’t know who thought that this was normal this narrative but I did a photo shoot with Justin Bieber and he was 16 years old and I don’t know how old I was.
Clarifying that there was nothing untoward about the arrangement she continued: ‘His girlfriend was there, his parents were there I mean it was like nothing creepy at all.
‘He’s like a good dear friend of ours and and the whole family, but like who thought that that was a good idea, you know? I must have been 30 years old.’
Alex then agreed: ‘I could see that, I could see that getting murky.’
Explaining the narrative of the shoot Kim said it was inspired by the 1967 comedy The Graduate which follows a recent college graduate who is seduced by an older married woman Mrs Robinson.
Kim Kardashian added: ‘It was a story of what’s that story with the teacher and the student, the graduate. The graduate.
‘I just feel like nothing ever weird was obviously happening and it was just an odd concept and why none of us thought that that was odd at the time.
‘But now we look back and I’m like “that would have not been the most appropriate thing”.
Elsewhere in the episode Kim also opened up about the lasting impact of her ‘toxic’ marriage to Kanye West – admitting she still finds it hard to date and detailing the struggles of co-parenting.
Detailing her troubled nine-year relationship with the rapper, 48, she explained that she was first drawn to Kanye because of his intellect, branding him ‘larger than life’ and saying they had ‘such a fun time’ together.
Yet things soon took a turn when Kanye, who has publicly struggled with his mental health, began to turn on Kim and her family.
‘When someone has like their first mental break, you want to be super supportive and you want to help figure that out and be there for them,’ she explained.
‘But when someone isn’t willing to make changes that I think would’ve been super healthy and beneficial, it makes it really hard to continue on in a relationship that can be toxic.’
Kim, who shares North, 12, Saint, nine, Chicago seven, and Psalm, five, with Kanye, added that having children made it much harder to leave and that she stuck around because she wanted to believe that Kanye would get better.
In 2016, Kanye was diagnosed with bipolar disorder after being hospitalised for a psychiatric emergency. However, he later claimed he was misdiagnosed.
Yet when things didn’t improve Kim knew it was time to leave and to show their children ‘a good example of setting boundaries.’
She explained that her own mental health began to suffer during her marriage, noting: ‘I had to save myself in order to be a better mum for everyone.
‘And I think when everyone’s older they’ll be able to understand it and see that all.’
Asked what was the ‘final straw’ for her, she mused: ‘There was just a lot of things that I wouldn’t deal with.
‘I didn’t like the talking bad about my kids’ grandmother, aunts – if someone feels that way, then we shouldn’t be together.
‘You know, airing out a lot of stuff, a lot of personal stuff.’
