Jonah Hill was photographed on the set of his movie Cut Off on Monday, Oct. 6
Johah Hill, who co-wrote the comedy and is also directing, stars alongside Kristen Wiig as a pair of entitled twins whose wealthy parents cut them off from financial support, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Bette Midler and Nathan Lane star as their mom and dad.
On Monday, Oct. 6, Johah Hill, 41, was photographed working on set in Los Angeles, looking slimmed down for the project, sporting blond hair and a beard. He and Wiig, 52, wore quirky, colorful costumes for the day of filming.
The two-time Oscar nominee’s most recent film as an actor was 2023’s You People, with Eddie Murphy, Nia Long and Lauren London. He made his directorial debut with Mid90s in 2018, then followed that up by directing the 2022 documentary Stutz.
Aside from Cut Off, Hill previously wrapped filming on the movie Outcome, which he directed. That film stars Cameron Diaz, Keanu Reeves and Matt Bomer.
In the past, Hill has spoken about his physical transformations for roles and feeling body-shamed while living in the spotlight. In 2021, he wrote in a since-deleted Instagram post that he’d prefer if people did not comment on his body.
“I know you mean well but I kindly ask that you not comment on my body,” he wrote at the time. “good or bad I want to politely let you know it’s not helpful and doesn’t feel good. Much respect.”
In an open letter published in 2022, Hill revealed that he no longer plans to participate in press tours or promotional events for his projects, citing his years-long experience with anxiety and panic attacks as part of his decision. He called it an “important step to protect myself.”
“I have come to the understanding that I have spent nearly 20 years experiencing anxiety attacks, which are exacerbated by media appearances and public-facing events,” he shared at the time.
Cut Off is scheduled to hit theaters July 17.
