Stranger Things actor Mason Dye just revealed he secretly got engaged to his girlfriend Carmen Joiner at a lake in their Atlanta, GA neighborhood on Valentine’s Day following four years of dating.
‘Valentine’s Day felt way too obvious, so it completely went over my head,’ the bride-to-be recalled to People on Thursday.
‘He had the whole evening planned, including fake dinner reservations at one of our favorite restaurants to throw me off. After he proposed, he surprised me with a stay at Chateau Elan in North Georgia, where we celebrated just the two of us and spent the next day at the spa.’
Carmen continued: ‘When we got home, our family, friends, and our cat Willow were waiting with a party to celebrate! Mason’s parents added to the surprise and even drove in from Oklahoma to make everything that much more special.’
Joiner and the 31-year-old groom-to-be Mason Dye are scheduled to tie the knot June 7 at the Wychmere Beach Club in Cape Cod, MA after their fifth anniversary.
‘When we started planning the wedding, we knew we wanted a destination in a fun place since our friends and family were from all over the states,’ the corporate executive explained.
‘We also wanted something that felt coastal and romantic, something on the water, and somewhere all of our friends and family would be excited to visit. Cape Cod checked all the boxes.’
Carmen – who works as associate district manager for ADP TotalSource – originally met Mason through a longtime mutual friend, and they went Instagram official (on her page) in 2021.
Dye’s engagement reveal came the same day Deadline reported that he scored a series regular gig as combat pilot-turned-junkie Bombsight in The Boys’ 1950s-set prequel, Vought Rising, for Amazon Prime Video.
The Oklahoma native – who boasts 381K followers – Instastoried about the shoot beginning later this month: ‘So excited to be apart of this!’
Mason Dye whose sister is Tae Dye from the band Maddie & Tae – will be joined in Paul Grellong’s twisted murder mystery by Jensen Ackles’ Soldier Boy and Aya Cash’s Stormfront.
But first, audiences will be introduced to Dye as the Supe (likely given Compound V by Frederick Vought himself) in the fifth and final season of Eric Kripke’s satirical superhero drama, which premieres next year on Amazon Prime Video.
Netflix subscribers will recognize Mason for his recurring role as rich basketball baddie Jason Carver, who had a vendetta against ‘Satanic’ Eddie Munson (Joseph Quinn), in the fourth season of Stranger Things in 2022.
However, Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower) opened a fourth gate to the Upside Down that cracked through fictional Hawkins, which made Jason’s return to the hit show impossible.
Mason Dye also memorably portrayed Violet’s (Samantha Logan) werewolf-killing boyfriend Garrett over four episodes of the fourth season of MTV’s Teen Wolf in 2014.
That same year, Mason portrayed 14-year-old hostage Christopher in Deborah Chow’s remake of Flowers in the Attic for Lifetime alongside Kiernan Shipka, Ellen Burstyn, and Heather Graham.
