Yvonne Jegede Remembers Her Late Mother In-Law And Nollywood Legend Bukky Ajayi

Nollywood actress Yvonne Jegede is remembering her late mother inlaw, and Nollywood legend, Bukky Ajayi.

The move, which some of her friends and fans have applauded, seems to have come as a surprise for others, for reasons best known to them.

Yvonne Jegede who had earlier shared a lovely reunion photos of her son and her family on her official social media handle, on Saturday 8th February 2025, shared a series of photos of the late actress, with some touching words about how she missed her and how she would have loved for the late actress to meet her grandson.

She also talked about how she’s proud of her son, and how she wished she could see the wonderful grandson she has.

Mama, 2 days ago was your remembrance.. I want to say I miss you Mama. Your grandson Xavier, he came November 1st 2018, yep he’s a big boy now, yes i wish you can see him mama. I wish you can see the wonderful grandson you have. Mama I feel emotional today, and I don’t know why mama, I guess it’s because Shina and his Mom met us up for lunch, Mama since then you have been on my mind. I want to use this as a tribute to you mama Bukky” she added.

The popular octogenarian stage and screen actress Zainab Bukky Ajayi, who was popular as ‘Auntie Bukky’ was the mother to actor Olakunle ‘Abounce’ Fawole. She died in 2016 at  Aged 82.

The actress reportedly died in her family home in Surulere area of Lagos and was later buried at Atan Cemetery, Yaba, Lagos in accordance with Islamic injunction.

She is best known for her inimitable performance in the Andrew Dosumu’s well travelled film Mother of George and in some Nollywood movies including the 2004 feature Indecent Girl and the 1998 movie Witches.

Yvonne Jegede and Olakunle Fawole went their separate ways in 2019, barely a year after they tied the knot. And they are blessed with a son.

Yvonne Jegede according to the report by Dailypost in 2024, while speaking with ‘The Honest Bunch’ podcast, said she regretted choosing love instead of money.

She stated that her ex-husband taking every joke as disrespect because he was older than her was also part of the reason for their divorce.

She said: “He [my ex-husband] is eight years older than me. But the moment we got married, if I tell am say, ‘You dey crease, ‘ he would say I’m disrespecting him. I would if it was the same person I got married to.

“But that wasn’t the main reason I left the marriage. Let me just say the fact, I was bringing more of the money. I’m taking care of my son like nobody exist around me. It’s not easy. I would have gone for money instead of love.”
