Keith Urban has compared Miley Cyrus’ voice to ‘an ashtray’ in a recent interview.
Appearing on Nova 96.9’s Fitzy and Wippa with Kate Ritchie on Thursday morning, the 56-year-old country music star was asked about the 31-year-old Flowers hitmaker.
‘Keith, can you tell us about Miley Cyrus and the talent of Miley Cyrus? You’ve performed with her before haven’t you,’ co-host Ryan ‘Fitzy’ Fitzgerald asked.
The Australian rocker replied with a gushing tribute to the pop star, before giving her a bizarre ‘compliment’.
‘I’ve always loved Miley. I love that voice, man, that voice…she sounds like an ashtray. And I mean that as a compliment. She sounds like the carpet at the RSL!’ Keith Urban joked.
The musician also unleashed on phoney, ‘BS’ pop artists who exploit country music to appear authentic, often disrespecting the country music industry in Nashville.
‘It’s a funny thing because you still need the support of the system in Nashville and if you go about it the right way, like Post (Malone) did, you’ll see the love,’ Keith Urban said.
Fitzy then asked who the younger players are who are breaking the mould.
They’re legit. Aussies like legit. So Luke (Combs) is legit, Lainey Wilson is legit. Morgan Wallen’s legit. I think a lot of people are sick of the BS with a lot of artists…what’s real and what isn’t,’ the country music star said.
It comes just a few days after Keith Urban revealed the very surprising activity and his wife Nicole Kidman engage in together.
The country music star admitted he joins the Aussie actress, 57, in indulging in a touch of self-care by getting skincare facials and using LED light therapy face masks.
Speaking on the Kyle & Jackie O Show to promote his world tour, Keith gave hosts Kyle Sandilands and Jackie ‘O’ Henderson an insight into his skincare regime.
‘Do you enjoy the, you know, when you get the steaming facials? I like that,’ Kyle, 53, asked Keith Urban.
Keith Urban then replied: ‘I’m always glad I do it. But I always forget to,’ before revealing he has even tried out the expensive LED masks, which aim to stimulate collagen and minimise redness and wrinkles.
When asked by Kyle if he had tried an LED mask, Keith added: ‘Yeah, they’re pretty good!’ as he confirmed he has joined Nicole and their daughters Sunday, 16, and Faith, 14, in the practice.
Kyle then gushed over Keith’s youthful appearance as he admitted his lavish skincare regime must be working for him.
‘They obviously work better for you than me, you’re very handsome!’ the radio shock jock quipped.
