Barbra Fuller, who starred on the radio soap opera One Man’s Family, has died at age 102.
Her godson J.P. Sloane announced via Facebook that Barbra Fuller had passed away on Wednesday, May 15.
He wrote, ‘Today my godmother, Barbra Fuller, passed away. She was on the radio’s first Soap Opera, ‘One Man’s Family’ playing the role of Claudia for 14 years. She also starred in movies and television.’
The post continued, ”Aunt’ Barbra had a full life and would have turned 103 on July 29 this year. I was truly blessed to have had her for so long.’
Sloane ended by saying, ‘She will always be loved and truly missed.’
Barbra Fuller was born in Nahant, Massachusetts in 1925. She and her mom moved to St. Petersburg, Florida after her father died when she was just three-years-old.
They would later move to Chicago, where her surviving parent worked at a radio station.
Her entertainment industry career started with a role in NBC radio’s drama One Man’s Family.
She went on to play the role of Claudia from 1945 to 1959.
‘It was a fun part. Claudia was a good girl with interesting qualities,’ Barbra recalled in Michael G. Fitzgerald and Boyd Magers’ 2006 book Ladies of the Western, per The Hollywood Reporter.
Barbra signed a contract with Republic Pictures in 1949, going on to star in 13 films.
One of those was an anti-communism noir titled The Red Menace, People reported.
Lonely Heart, Flame of Youth, The Savage Horde, Alias the Champ are some of her other productions.
The actress also made a cameo in an episode of Adventures of Superman, playing a woman who worked for the villain Public Enemy No. 1.
Fuller earned a role on the CBS series Four Star Playhouse between 1955 and 1956, starring alongside Charles Boyer.
She married Lash LaRue, a Western film star, in February 1951, but the couple went on to separate months later in November. They divorced in June 1952.
