The Delta State Police Command have confirmed the arrest of a Delta State Police Inspector, who allegedly shot and killed a a young man in Asaba, over N100 bribe.
According to the statement released on Wednesday 5th April 2023, by the Delta State Police Command Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe, the PPRO stated that the Delta state Police inspector whose name was not revealed, has been identified, arrested, paraded, and detained.
“The Command assures members of the public and the deceased family of justice. An investigation has commenced, and he will be arraigned in court for prosecution”, he said.
According to reports, the accident that led to the shooting to death of the man identified by Police as Onyeka Ibe, started when the victim refused to give the Policemen on routine stop and search duty N100 along the Ugbolu-Asaba road in Asaba, Delta State.
Angry youths took over the town to protest the alleged killings by the Police.
There is tension in the town as youths matched along major streets in search of Policemen to vent their anger.
